Sprinkler Fun

It's hot.  The girls love to be outside regardless of the temperature.  Sprinkler time makes outdoor play bearable.  Sprinkler time is good ole fashioned fun!

This depicts my children perfectly:  Madeline adjusting her tutu on her suit.  Amelia standing on the sprinkler while the water rushes in her face.

Silly girls just having fun.

Pool Fun

We ventured to the neighborhood pool over the weekend and captured a few pictures of the girls.  No actual swimming pictures as both girls are a little bit needy when in the water.  Madeline has some private swimming lessons starting up really soon, and we hope she's a fast study! :)  My neighbor, Mrs. Sasha, will completely appreciate my girls swimming with a hairbow!

Sisterly bonding over Goldfish snacks

Madeline's "cheese pose" - Wow!

I love my girls.

Daddy loves ALL of his girls too!  He took about 10 of this pose.  Love him!

Cuteness

I came across a few pictures on my phone that were just too cute not to share.

Amelia sporting Madeline's Crocs feeling like such a BIG girl.

Just heading out to the gym one day - Amelia is slowly starting to adore accessories like her big sister.

Madeline just being Madeline.

Heading to the gym one morning - this one can never have too many accessories!

No More Dinosaurs!

I have an office of sorts in our home ~ it is perfect little organized space for me to file our bills in the credenza, a computer & printer is set up for my important facebooking, blogging, and online shopping :), our old kitchen table and chairs resides in this space, a lot of my former teacher stuff lives here, and eventually it will be a great space for homework & projects for our children.

I've been jonesing for a new computer situation for awhile now.  For the longest time, this was my computer, a total dinosaur:
And, then, I moved onto these two laptops.  Now they are both toast for various reasons, and I have been using Eric's work laptop recently.  That just makes me nervous - heaven forbid, my silly facebook or other such nonsense allow a virus on his work computer.  Not to mention, I didn't like using laptops because we kept it downstairs in the den, and we would find ourselves on the computer ALL.THE.TIME. taking away from family time or just us time.  I missed "working" in my little office space.
So, for my VERY UNEXPECTED anniversary gift, TA-DA.  The sweet hubs finally heard my pleas for a new computer situation that put me back into my little office.
I don't need much, and I don't need fancy.  So, this little set up is perfect.  My sweet husband never ceases to amaze me with his little surprises.  I'm a lucky gal.

Madeline's First Dental Appointment

Oh, this girl was born to be pampered!  Yes, Madeline felt pampered at her first dental visit, and no we didn't take her to some fancy spa dentist!  :)

She LOVED the dentist from the silly pink glasses, to the hygienist that worked on her teeth, to the awesome Dr. M. who goofed around with her, to the "goody bag" that included a PINK flosser, to the treasure box loaded with jewels from which to choose.  Yes, our first dental visit was a glamorous, wonderful experience!

When she was done with her cleaning and exam she looked at me, smiled, and exclaimed, "Look at my beautiful, shiny teef!"  Yes, our girl was born to be pampered even at the dentist!

Lake Greenwood

My brother, his wife, and their son have an amazing home away from home on Lake Greenwood.  They invited our family to stay this past weekend with them.  We had an amazing time.  Greg and Angela are wonderful hosts, and Drew plays so well with our girls.  Boating was the big hit of the weekend.  Madeline tubed with Drew, and they had a blast.  Madeline had a smile on her little face the entire time!
Amelia enjoyed cruising on the boat as well.
These two little cuties in pink loved standing at the front of the boat letting the breeze blow through their hair and waving to other boaters.
More tubing...
Cousin Drew high-fiving the littlest passenger.

One last spin on the tube...

Our weekend away to the lake was just what we needed to get our summer off to a fantastic start!

Amelia is 18 Months Old

Sweet Amelia is 18 Months Old, and she is just turning into such a big girl.  She also thinks she is going on four years old.  Lots and lots of monkey see, monkey do in our household right now.  I'm not going to lie, it's a little frustrating at times when she wants to do what Madeline is doing.  Sometimes, she just can't do what Big Sister is doing, but there absolutely NO reasoning with Miss Amelia.  Unfortunately, this has amped up the temper tantrum factor in our house, and that's a real bummer.

Amelia is really starting to talk more and more.  She has many words in her vocabulary that she uses regularly and properly.  There is also a lot of jibberish that comes out of her mouth.  Unfortunately, Amelia has what I call a "tight tongue" (the frenulum that connects her tongue to the bottom of her mouth is really tight), and her tongue does not have full range of motion.  As a result her speech has definitely been affected.  Many of her words are garbled, so the general population doesn't always understand what she is saying.  So, it's looking like a surgery is in our future in order to correct this problem and not have further speech issues in our future.  Yikes.

Amelia continues to be our eater and sleeper.  This girl LOVES mealtime, and although she has her picky moments, she generally eats what is given to her.  She has been clued into snacks and chocolate, so those foods are welcomed at any time!  She loves milk and icy cold water, and she could take or leave juice, lemonade, kool-aid, etc.  Amelia loves her bed, naps, and bedtime.  She continues to be a great sleeper (unless she is sick), and her post sleeping playtime in her bed has increased dramatically.  It's nice to have a few extra minutes to in the morning or afternoon when she wakes up to finish whatever it is that I am doing.  Amelia loves her paci and lovey, and she's fully aware that those items remain in her bed.  There have been many days that she pitches a fit when we leave them behind, but as a general rule, I don't let those things tag along throughout the day - just one of my Mama quirks that she has to learn to live with unfortunately.

Amelia has really blossomed socially.  She loves other children, being outside, and going to the gym nursery.  Her stranger danger has calmed down, and that's nice.  I notice her waving to many more people now, and she is all smiles when people approach her.  Big improvement.  Don't get me wrong, she's still can be pretty clingy and on my hip a lot, but it's gotten a lot better.  Amelia loves to play with Madeline, color, play in the sandbox, swing on the swing set, play chase, and slide down the slide.  She just loves to be able to roam around freely and be noisy.  She can squeal with the best of them, and she can give the biggest belly laugh.  One of her most recent favorite activities is playing in bigger shoes.  Wonder where she got that idea?  She's also really into bracelets, necklaces, and purses.  Again, lots of monkey see, monkey do.

(I might add here that I totally missed her 17 month old post, but I can summarize Amelia's 17th month up with just a few unpleasant words - double ear infection, chest infection with wheezing, breathing treatments, antibiotics, no sleep, and general crankiness.  Poor baby had a rough month.)

Amelia Bedelia,

You are our bull in a china shop mowing down whatever is in your path.  You are our spunky girl that can be giggly and happy one second & mad as a hornet the next second.  You are our little stubborn, feisty thing when you don't get your way.  You are our child with scrapes, bumps, and bruises.  You are our child that needs to be checked on if you are too quiet.  You are our child that is constantly blurting out, "UH-OH!" because you have created an "uh-oh" situation.  But most of all, you are our lovable, sweet, silly, noisy, clumsy, hilarious little girl who gives hugs, kisses, and big toothy smiles all the time!  You keep us on our toes with your antics and stretch my patience to levels I never knew existed, but you fit our little family so perfectly.  We love you to pieces.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Eric had a long workday on his birthday, and we were sad that the girls would not be awake when he got home from his case in Asheville to celebrate his birthday.  (Birthdays are becoming much for fun for us now that the girls enjoy celebrating someone's special day!)  After dinner, we made a banner to hang on the garage door, so Daddy would have a birthday greeting from his babies.  Who knew sign making would be such a fun project!?

Madeline helped me make brownies for Daddy.
I got the girls nestled in the bed and prepared a little birthday dinner celebration for my hardworking honey.  It was a nice evening, and Eric felt loved most importantly!
Happy 36th Birthday to the special man in our lives!  We LOVE you!

First S'more Roast

We broke in the new fire pit with a post bath time s'more roast!  What fun!  Daddy was in his element collecting wood and building the fire.
Madeline was very excited to be able to come back down after her bath to roast a s'more.  Amelia just can't hang, so she was already in the bed.
Happy Daddy with his new fire pit
It really was a lovely evening to be outside.

Loading up the skewer with a marshmallow
Madeline enjoyed roasting the marshmallow, but she's really all about the end result.
Madeline couldn't get her hands on one of these fast enough!
YUM!
All smiles!
Savoring every bite
Daddy and his sweet girl - notice the bracelets.
We admired the moon.

What a great evening!
