Our Own Carolina Cup
Every year for the past who-knows-how-many years, Eric and I have gone to the Carolina Cup with good friends, but this year, the decision was made to not attend. It gets tricky (and expensive!) with childcare, logistics of cars, getting the spaces, and purchasing tickets. Since our friends, Brian and Jen, have the outdoor space at their farm, they decided to host an oyster roast! It was the perfect substitute for The Cup! Most of us brought our kids, and they were all immediately entertained with the spacious land to run and play. The adults stood around and chatted like we normally would except we were in comfortable clothes instead of some adorable sundress. And, a bonus: we were guaranteed to see horses since there are three of them on the farm! It was a great night with great friends!
We arrived before the actual party began & just in time to put Amelia down for a nap. While Amelia napped, Madeline was able to ride Cupcake again! Heaven! First we put her to work brushing Cupcake's hair.
"Ta Da! Cupcake!!"Helmet time! We came a little more prepared this time around ~ Madeline's jeggings and rainboots were actually a good substitute for real riding pants and boots!Madeline waiting not so patiently for her time to ride.Saddling up and showing Jen what she remembers from her last lesson:Do you think she's having fun? She remembered everything Jen taught her! Farm shot with a glimpse of the pasture:The barn:We spent the night, and on Sunday, we enjoyed the beautiful weather. Jen had a big surprise for Madeline once the morning "horse chores" were completed. Amelia loves being outside wandering around. She's a big fan of the farm. The grand finale: Madeline was able to ride Jen's horse, Cowboy! OH, Happy Day!A glimpse at their beautiful land ~ this is where all the hanging out and kids play takes place. There's a pasture beyond this where the horses spend most of their days.
