Cupcake

A few weeks ago, our dear friends, Brian & Jen, invited us to come out to their farm to visit, play, and ride their daughter's pony, Cupcake. We started our fun on Saturday afternoon after all the kids' naps. the kids were able to play outside while the adults chatted. Once we got all of the kids settled in bed, the adults were able to grill out & hang out.

On Sunday, the much anticipated pony ride took place. To say that Madeline Stewart was stoked is quite an understatement. The girl could not wait to get on that pony! No fear!

Daddy was put in charge of the helmet while Jen was working to get Cupcake all saddled up.
Pony time! Some last minute instructions and helmet adjustments:Jen is amazing with Madeline. She did such a wonderful job explaining the basics to Madeline, and Madeline listened intently to Jen's directions.Holding the reins properly:
"Put your weight in your hiney and shoulders back!"
And, she's off!
"Whoa, Cupcake!"Madeline did so well listening to Jen's instructions about how to make Cupcake walk, turn, and stop. Jen walked her all over the place, and once Madeline got the hang of things, Jen was able to have them go around piles of mulch without much of Jen's help leading. It was neat to see Madeline be so natural and comfortable on Cupcake.Looking awfully cute!I think this sums it up perfectly:After awhile, Jen even got Madeline to trot. There was no mistaking Madeline's instant love for riding horses! Madeline probably rode Cupcake for an hour, and when it was time to get off, Madeline immediately said, "When do I get to ride those big ponies out there?" pointing to the pasture. (Jen has two other horses as well.)Meanwhile during Cupcake riding, I was in charge of the babies, Amelia & Holston! They had a blast doing their thing with the outdoor toys and playing in the grass!
We can't thank our friends, Brian, Jen, & Holston, enough for hosting us! We had a blast, and the memories we made were priceless!
